QNX® 4.25 RTOS Network Drivers Installation Notes

QNX® 4.25 RTOS

Date of this edition: November 21, 2005

Host OS: QNX 4.25 base or any patch level

Contents

Note: This new network driver update includes the contents of the previous one (i.e. QNX4-network_20050408.tar.gz). It provides an update to the Intel 82540 Ethernet driver (i.e. Net.i82540) in order to support newer device IDs. The complete list of supported device IDs can be found in the technote located in /etc/readme/technotes/Net.etheri82540.

Installation procedure

To install your network drivers:

  1. Download the network driver archive (QNX4-network_20051115.tar.gz).
  2. Backup the existing network drivers.
Note: If you wish to keep a copy of the existing drivers and utilities, you'll need to save them to a safe location first, to prevent them from being overwritten during installation.

        # cp -Rvc /bin/Net.* /etc/readme/technotes/Net.* /backupdir

  3. Get the cksum to ensure that the binary is correct.
      # cksum QNX4-network_20051115.tar.gz
  4. Compare the result against the checksum posted on your myQNX account.
  5. Extract the archive with the updated drivers:
    # cd /
    # gzip -d <download-path>/QNX4-network_20051115.tar.gz
    # tar -xvof <download-path>/QNX4-network_20051115.tar

The following drivers will be installed:

Note: Except for the Net.i82540 driver, the drivers and technotes below are identical to those provided with the previous April 08, 2005 network update (i.e. QNX4-network_20050408.tar.gz).

    • /bin/Net.ether82557
    • /bin/Net.ether905
    • /bin/Net.i82540 (NEW driver)
    • /bin/Net.via
    • /etc/readme/technotes/Net.ether82557
    • /etc/readme/technotes/Net.ether905
    • /etc/readme/technotes/Net.etheri82540 (NEW technote)
    • /etc/readme/technotes/Net.via

  6. Make sure that the binaries are executable:
      # chmod 775 /bin/Net.*
      # chown root:root /bin/Net.*
