Installation procedure

To install your network drivers:

1. Download the network driver archive (patch-QNX425-0701-netdrivers.tar).
2. Get the cksum to ensure that the binary is correct.

       # cksum patch-QNX425-0701-netdrivers.tar
       

3. Compare the result against the checksum posted on your myQNX account.
4. Extract the archive with the updated drivers:

       # cd /
       # tar -xvof download-path/patch-QNX425-0701-netdrivers.tar
       

   The following drivers will be installed to patches/QNX425-0701/:

   • bin/Net.ether82557
   • bin/Net.rtl8169
   • bin/Net.i82540
   • bin/Net.rtl
   • bin/Net.bcm57xx
   • bin/Net.ns83815
   • etc/readme/technotes/Net.rtl8169
   • etc/readme/technotes/Net.bcm57xx
5. Backup the existing network drivers.

   ---

   If you wish to keep a copy of the existing drivers and utilities, you'll need to save them to a safe location first, to prevent them from being overwritten during installation. In the commands below, date is the date of installation of the patch, for example patches/QNX425-0701/backup.28sep07. # mkdir patches/QNX425-0701/backup.date # cp -Rvc /bin/Net.* /etc/readme/technotes/Net.* /patches/QNX425-0701/backup.date

   ---

6. Copy the patch files to /bin and /etc/readme/technotes:

       # cp patches/QNX425-0701/bin/* /bin
       # cp patches/QNX425-0701/etc/readme/technotes/* /etc/readme/technotes
       

7. Make sure that the binaries are executable:

       # chmod 775 /bin/Net.*
       # chown root:root /bin/Net.*
