Contents

Note: This new network driver update includes the contents of the previous one (i.e. QNX4-network_20050408.tar.gz). It provides an update to the Intel 82540 Ethernet driver (i.e. Net.i82540) in order to support newer device IDs. The complete list of supported device IDs can be found in the technote located in /etc/readme/technotes/Net.etheri82540.

Net.i82540 Updated with and verified against the latest device IDs from Intel
Net.via Bug fix in the transmit routine under heavy load

Known issues

  • When Full-Duplex mode is selected (-F) for the Net.via driver, the Media Rate always detects as 0Mb/s FDX.

Workaround: You will have to use the speed option (-s) explicitly. To do this run one of the following commands:

    Net.via -F -s10
    Net.via -F -s100
  • When Full-Duplex mode is selected (-F) for either the Net.ether905 and Net.i82540 drivers, the Media Rate always detects as 100Mb/s FDX.

Workaround: When attached to a 10 Base-T or a 1000 Base-T (Net.i82540 driver only) network, you'll have to use the speed option (-s) explicitly. To do this run one of the following commands:

    Net.ether905 -F -s10
    Net.i82540 -F -s1000

This patch doesn't update the online documentation for these network drivers. However, you'll find their latest options and supported chipsets in their respective use messages:
